Clear costs. Explainable numbers.
SellerToolkit helps candle and soap makers cost a batch, choose a selling price and prepare customer quotes. Connect material costs and recipes with wholesale quotes, then compare estimates with recorded production results. Small-batch makers can also use the general workspace.
How product costs are calculated
A material’s unit cost is its entered purchase cost divided by its purchased quantity. Recipe consumption is converted only between compatible units. Weight and volume are not interchangeable without a separately established conversion.
Included batch material, labour and overhead costs are divided by usable output. Explicitly per-unit costs, such as packaging, are then added. Enter waste consistently: do not count the same loss in both material consumption and a second waste allowance.
Margin, markup and target prices
Margin is included profit divided by corresponding tax-exclusive revenue. Markup is included profit divided by the matching cost basis. They are different: a $4.50 product sold for $6.75 has a 50% markup and a 33.33% margin before other costs.
For a simple product with cost C, target margin m and a percentage selling fee f on item revenue, target price = C / (1 − m − f). The denominator must be positive. A $4.50 included cost, 50% target margin and 3% selling fee gives $9.574468…; rounding upward to cents gives $9.58.
The full order calculation also accounts for the entered shipping, setup, discounts, taxes and payment charges. Percentage fee bases and the number of payment transactions are explicit assumptions. Taxes collected are not profit. Missing costs and impossible targets need attention rather than a guessed result.
Precision and saved assumptions
The maker workspace uses decimal arithmetic and currency-specific rounding. Target prices round upward; quote totals follow their documented currency rounding. Issued quotes preserve assumptions and calculation version. Later supplier changes affect future estimates, not an already issued customer document.
Production comparisons use quoted revenue and your recorded fulfilment costs. Contribution subtracts included variable costs; profit after overhead also subtracts allocated overhead. Neither is company net profit, verified bank receipts or a tax-filing report.
Your data and access
The editable demo requires no account. Personal cloud saves use verified sign-in and server storage. Browser drafts are local to the device and are saved manually; export records for a separate copy. The workspace does not currently offer automatic stock tracking or marketplace synchronisation.
Customer quote documents omit internal supplier costs and margins. Review the privacy policy for account, payment and retention details and pricing for current limits.
